ANEES ADENWALA

PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer Instructor (MSDT) & CMAS** INSTRUCTOR

A pioneer of India’s scuba diving industry, Anees Adenwala is one of the country’s first certified scuba diving instructors, with a career that spans over 30 years and 15,000+ dives. His journey began in the early 90s and led to the establishment of one of Lakshadweep’s earliest dive centres in 1996.

Anees has trained and inspired thousands of divers, earning his reputation as a veteran of the ocean and a trusted mentor in the dive community. His leadership and dedication have played a key role in putting Mumbai on the diving map, making the sport more accessible to urban enthusiasts through professional training at Orca Dive Club.

In recognition of his contributions to the industry, Anees was named Brand Ambassador of the DRT (Dive Resort Travel) Show India, further cementing his status as a leading figure in Asia’s dive scene. Beyond recreational diving, Anees is also the founder of Underwater Film Services (UFS), established in 2003. This elite team of professionals specializes in underwater stunts, action sequences, and cinematography. UFS has worked on over 100 feature films and commercials, collaborating with some of the biggest names in Bollywood, Tollywood, Marathi cinema, and Indian television.

SHAMEEN ADENWALA

MFI (Mermaiding Federation International) INSTRUCTOR

A seasoned water enthusiast and lifelong lover of the ocean, Shameen Adenwala has been diving since 1998, bringing with her over 400 dives worth of experience and a deep, personal connection to the underwater world. With a background as a former national-level competitive swimmer, her affinity for water runs deep—both in skill and in spirit.

At Orca Dive Club, Shameen has played a vital role in laying the foundation of the organization. Behind the scenes, she has been instrumental in building the club’s operational backbone, known for her commitment to client service, efficiency, and personalization. Her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to prioritize the needs of every student and traveler have helped create the warm, professional experience Orca is known for today.

Driven by a desire to make diving more accessible, Shameen actively supports Orca’s mission to grow the diving community in India—fostering not just skilled divers, but also deeper emotional connections with the ocean and its marine life.

Adding another unique wave to her aquatic journey, Shameen embraced the art of mermaiding at the age of 50, training under Mermaid Federation International (MFI) to become a certified MFI Mermaiding Instructor. For her, mermaiding is more than a discipline—it’s an empowering blend of grace, strength, and self-expression. She went on to found Orca Merjestic, a platform dedicated to introducing others to the magic and freedom of mermaiding, encouraging people of all ages to reconnect with water in a transformative way.

With her decades of aquatic experience, unmatched passion, and commitment to inclusivity and excellence, Shameen continues to inspire new generations of ocean lovers and helps shape Orca Dive Club into not just a dive centre—but a growing, supportive, and joyful community.

Founded in 2008 by veteran diver and underwater filmmaker Anees Adenwala, Orca Dive Club was born out of a simple idea: to make scuba diving more accessible to people in the city and nurture a strong, passionate dive community in the heart of Mumbai.
